Reconnecting...

This has been a good weekend for reconnecting with friends.

Friday evening, my dear friend and ex-college-roomie, Silvana, came down from North-Central Jersey for dinner, and became my first overnight guest at my new apartment. We talked and looked at pictures from my two trips to Italy for hours before we even got out the door to eat! We finally made it out to the Newton Pub Diner, where we ordered the exact same thing, Chicken Italiano - boneless chicken and breaded eggplant in tomato sauce and ricotta over linguine, and we shared an order of mozzarella sticks. Dinner was delicious, but neither of us could finish, so we brought the rest home. Then we stayed up talking and talking until 6:30 in the morning! It was really great to talk to her for so long again - we were very close in college, and time and distance have kept us out of touch. (Now that I've discovered that she tends to respond to email, not to phone calls, we should have a better time keeping in touch!)

I got up around 12:30 in the afternoon, and played on the computer until Silvana woke around 2-ish. We got dressed and had "breakfast" at IHOP - her treat - and performed a reconnaissance mission on the way (more on that in another entry). Then we walked into town and shopped. Silvana got a lovely antique crystal necklace and some beading supplies. She also bought me a lovely little pink glass dish for my glass collection - a birthday present! She stayed until 7:30 or so.

After Silvana left, I gave a call to my favorite blue-haired girl... ikichi! We talked for nearly three hours, just like we used to! :-) General craziness in both of our lives has kept us from keeping in touch as much as we'd like. As soon as I can afford the gas, I'll have to head up to North Jersey to visit her! It was so good to talk like that again! I've missed my Millie!

And late tonight, I talked to zim138 for a while... but I talk to him all the time! :-)
He's my very best bud! <3
